There's a significant, essential difference, between having a required, can - do, positive attitude, and proceeding with rose - colored glasses! True leaders must believe they could, and proceed in a confident manner, while maintaining a company grasp on reality! It serves little purpose, when someone proceeds having an unrealistic/ unachievable, idealistic manner, without considering three components: 1) What is clearly doable/ possible; 2) What should be done, but may require incremental gains, if it is to be performed; and 3) lofty idealism, that will be the eventual goal or hope, but presently, has little chance of achievement, as presently constructed. The paradox of effective leadership is the chance of balancing quality, positive goals and beliefs, without resorting to mere, thinking. While all of us must have wishes and ultimate goals/ aims, a genuine leader must manage to be objectively idealistic, and positively pragmatic! Without a well - considered plan, mere, wishful thinking is frequently wasteful of time, energy, Meaningful Wishes and resources, and could even become detrimental, when it inhibits accomplishing other possibilities, in an appropriate manner! It serves little purpose to wonder what could have been, or could be, whenever your time could be much better spent, conceiving of, creating, developing and implementing, a program/ plan, that'll move an organization forward, in a desirable direction! Understanding and differentiating wishes from reality, does not mean, one should avoid lofty ideals, etc! However, one's intentions become meaningless, unless they're transformed into a meaningful action! Create workable ideas, motivate others to become listed on you in your quest, and proceed accordingly! Innovation and accomplishment, require seeing the simplest way to proceed, while clearly understanding a group's strengths and weaknesses (in order to make use of areas of strength, while addressing areas of weakness)! Ultimately analysis, the legacy of any leader, will soon be centered on whether he effectively conceived of, created, developed and implemented a meaningful, relevant, sustainable system! One only becomes a heroic leader, when/ if, he sees things because they are, and transforms them, or moves them forward on the very best path, towards what might, and must be! True leadership is all about being helpful to those one serves, and the business he represents. That doesn't occur merely by hoping or wishing, but instead by effective, and often - pragmatic actions! Many candidates are elected, by telling people what they wish to hear, rather than what they have to know! Fantasies are fine, but one's pursuits must not be predicated on a fantasy! True leaders seek fair solutions, which bring people together, to find the best interests of the group (common good)! The maximum hope, with no meaningful plan, rarely gets it done! If you genuinely wish to lead, you have to provide useful and usable ideas, approaches and plans! Often, someone gets so associated with their idealistic beliefs, they fail to cover sufficient awareness of needs, concerns and priorities! Listen effectively, learn consistently, act accordingly, and you'll be on your way, towards meaningful leadership! thinking, with out a pragmatic, well-considered plan, rarely achieves anything! As opposed to merely wishing, positively seek viable, relevant solutions!
